Exercising after a Breast Lift

Spread the love

As with all major surgical procedures, a breast lift can take its toll on your body. As a result, you will need to get plenty of rest in the early phases of recovery to ensure that you heal properly.

For the first few days after your procedure, you should keep all activity to a minimum. However, after a few days you should be able to start resuming some light activity. Dr. Kim recommends engaging in gentle exercise such as walking as soon as you feel up to it. This can help ensure a smoother recovery by reducing your risk of blood clots and improving circulation.

In general, it is best to avoid strenuous exercise for about three to four weeks after your breast lift. This is particularly true of upper body exercises. Once you do return to a more active lifestyle, make sure you wear a sports bra that provides your breasts with the support they need following surgery.

Dr. Kim will monitor your recovery closely at all of your follow-up appointments, and he will recommend the appropriate timetable for resuming rigorous exercise based on how well you are healing. If your breast lift was more extensive, Dr. Kim may recommend you wait longer than four weeks before resuming all activity.
