Keller Funnel Breast Implant Delivery System
Dr. Eugene Kim strives to provide the most advanced, proven and effective technologies and techniques at his plastic surgery practice for patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and nearby areas. Patients can treated in a safer and more efficient manner with the latest innovations in the field of cosmetic surgery.
One of the newest additions to Dr. Kim’s practice is the revolutionary Keller Funnel 2 (KF2) breast implant delivery device. With this technology, the breast augmentation treatment with Dr. Kim has truly gone state of the art.
What is KF2 Technology?
The Keller Funnel 2 or KF2 is the next generation breast implant delivery device designed to facilitate exceptionally gentle, safe and quick delivery of all kinds of silicone gel based breast implants. The conical shaped, clear KF2 system allows the surgeon to deliver a range of silicone implants with ease and efficiency. The procedure employs a “No Touch” technique, which cuts down the risk of bacterial contamination on the surface of the implant shell, which may be responsible for breast implant failure at some point of time.
With the availability of KF2 technology, the breast surgeon is in a position to visualize and orient the implant appropriately before the insertion. The interior hydrophilic coating of the funnel helps create a slick surface that ensures a low friction interface. This allows for the easy and gentle passage of the implant through the funnel. The device is equally efficient when used for round shaped, anatomical shaped or textured implants. The device is highly biocompatible, and has passed multiple biocompatibility tests, both in vitro and in vivo.
KF2 is one of the latest technologies to be introduced by the leading medical device manufacturer, Keller Medical, Inc. Plastic surgeons around the world can make use of this universal delivery device for silicone breast implants, which has been launched in January, 2014. The new technology provides an optically clear material that enables the surgeon to have an unhindered visualization of the breast implant.
The Keller Funnel 2 has been classified as a Class 1 (US) and Class IIa (EU) device. Keller Medical has received four U.S. patents for various aspects of the both design and the application of the funnel as to how it may be used during surgery. Dr. Kim’s adoption of this patented, state of the art technology makes him one of the selected plastic surgeons who are employing this technology for the benefits of patients who need breast augmentation surgery.
Tested and Proven Technology
Keller Medical, Inc. introduced the Keller Funnel originally in 2009. Since then the company has sold more than 145,000 funnels and experienced significant growth over the last four years. At present, more than two thousand surgeons around the world make use of the Keller Funnel, as per the company’s estimates.
An annual field survey conducted to know the surgeon feedback on the device showed that surgeons prefer the extra layer of protection against possible contamination and the convenient delivery process provided by this technology. The features of the new KF2 technology are particularly beneficial for use with textured anatomical breast implants that are gaining popularity with patients as well as surgeons in the United States.
