Latisse is a prescription treatment used to grow longer, thicker eyelashes. It is currently the only FDA-approved treatment for eyelash growth.
Although there are other forms of eyelash rejuvenation, these options fall under the classification of cosmetics and used primarily to boost the visual appearance of eyelashes. Latisse actually stimulates the growth of your eyelashes. Because Latisse is labeled as a drug by the FDA and other eyelash rejuvenation products such as Revitalash are considered cosmetics, there have been no side-by-side studies comparing results.
However, a recent study found that more than 80 percent of people who used Latisse noticed eyelashes of increased volume and length and reported that they were pleased with the results. A clinical study that included 278 Latisse users from 16 states found that Latisse provided:
- 25 percent greater eyelash length
- 106 percent improved eyelash fullness
- 18 percent increased eyelash darkness
While Latisse has proven effective for a vast majority of users, its results are not permanent. Without continued use, your eyelashes will revert to their original appearance.
