Ultrasonic liposuction is similar to the traditional liposuction method, only better. About Ultrasonic Liposuction

A specially-designed cannula (or tube) is used to first disrupt the targeted fat cells with high-energy sound waves. Fat deposits get larger not because there are more fat cells, but because the fat cells themselves swell. This swelling makes fat cells vulnerable to disruption by ultrasonic energy that leaves stronger connective tissue, blood vessels, and other tissue relatively unharmed. UAL is excellent for removing fatty deposits that may have been difficult to capture with the traditional liposuction process. In fact, UAL is often effective on regions of the body with tough tissue that is resistant to the traditional method.

At your first postoperative visit, Dr. Kim will outfit you with a special elastic dressing or compression garment to be worn for a specific time period. A few days of downtime is usually sufficient, followed by the gradual return to normal activities. Dr. Kim will restrict strenuous activities for a certain period of time, depending on the areas treated and the amount of fat removed. Many people have shorter healing times with VASER® Lipo, but for other people the healing period is comparable to traditional liposuction. Your results will continue to improve over time with final results becoming apparent in about 3-6 months.
