Chin Augmentation Plastic Surgery Recovery

Spread the love

Chin Augmentation Plastic Surgery RecoveryRecovery is a vital component of the overall chin augmentation cosmetic surgery procedure. The patient should be committed to following the surgeon’s recovery instructions with diligence in order to have a faster and safer recovery. In any case, the recovery period can slightly vary between two patients depending on a number of factors.

During the initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss all aspects of chin augmentation, including the expected recovery.

Patients can do some advance preparation before the surgery in order to have a more comfortable recovery. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kim provides chin augmentation to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and other suburbs and neighborhoods in this region across the horizon.

Recovery Instructions

The surgeon will discuss the estimated recovery time with the patient, and when they may expect to return to their normal routine or go back to their workplace. The patient will be advised to refrain from smoking and using certain medications such as blood thinners for at least a specified time period.

Post-op care instructions will include advice on how to care for the drain tubes, if they have been placed. The surgeon will inform the patient about the normal symptoms they are likely to experience as well as the potential signs of concern when they should contact the surgeon’s office.

Immediate Post-Op Phase

Following chin augmentation cosmetic surgery, most patients will go through mild to moderate discomfort for the first few days. They will also experience some bruising and swelling in the incision sites. In the first two days, the patient may apply cold compresses to the treated chin areas to mitigate swelling and pain.

For the first one or two days, the patient may be restricted to a liquid-only diet. Short walks and light activities at home are encouraged in the first week, but the patient should stay home during this time to allow for safe healing.

First Two Weeks

Some patients may be restricted to a soft diet for up to a week or 10 days. Sutures and drains will usually be removed at the end of the first week. If the sutures have been placed inside the mouth, these will dissolve in about the same period of time. In the first week, the patient will be encouraged to recline in a face-up position at a 45 degree angle to improve swelling.

After the first week, most patients will be able to return to work. But they should restrict their physical movements in the second week, and avoid strenuous activities and exercises for the entire first month after the surgery.

Longevity of Results

The results of chin implants are virtually permanent. However, in exceptional situations, an implant can fracture due to facial trauma, or become infected. These are anyway rare events and most patients can expect a lifetime of improvement after chin augmentation surgery.

The patient should return to the surgeon’s office at prescribed times for follow-up evaluation. Golden and sagacious plastic surgeon Dr. Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and nearby areas for chin augmentation.
